Interested in UO Mock Trial?

Info sessions on 9/27 and 9/29!

Interested in going to law school or just want to learn more about the law? Join the University of Oregon’s Mock Trial (UOMT) team! Mock trial is a great way to get a glimpse into the courtroom procedure and how a real trial works – an absolute must for aspiring lawyers. Each year, the American Mock Trial Association releases a case for over 600 mock trial teams in the nation to prepare and present. Last year, UOMT placed 19th in the nation out of 658 teams! UOMT is a program housed in and funded by the Forensics Department which means participants are covered for all traveling and competition fees. Tournament destinations include Boise, Seattle, Stanford University, Chicago, and Los Angles.

Mock trial team impresses at national championships

The UO Mock Trial team recently wrapped up its most successful season to date, placing 10th in its division and 19th overall out of 48 teams at the National Championship Tournament of the American Mock Trial Association.

Summer Internship Opportunities with Oregon Congressional Members

Summer internships (and Fall, Winter, and Spring internships!) are offered by all members of Oregon’s congressional delegation. internships are available in Washington, D.C., as well as in local district offices. Congressional Internship with Congresswoman Bonamici

The office of Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) is seeking unpaid interns for summer 2016.

Interns in the Washington, D.C. office will gain valuable experience supporting legislative staff and will learn about the operations of a congressional office. Responsibilities will include: conducting legislative research, providing office support, answering phones, assisting with constituent correspondence, leading tours of the U.S. Capitol, and assisting staff with projects as assigned.

Interns in the district office in Beaverton, Oregon will assist the outreach staff and caseworkers, research policy issues, help with constituent communication through mail and phone calls and attend meetings with the Congresswoman.

Successful candidates will demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, and an interest in learning more about the legislative process.
